I knew Suresh Modgi throughout all five years at IIT. He was always biking alongside our group of H6 guys. Even if we were walking, he would slow down on his bike to stay with us, keeping us company and chatting. Modgi stayed in the third hostel, and he had two routes to get there: one before the Gymkhana and one after. He always took the route after Gymkhana, just so he could spend more time with us.
In the department, it was clear that Modgi was ahead in all the subjects. We could always approach him for clarifications, and he was consistently a go-to person for help. Academically, he stood out as a frontrunner among us. I believe he joined Dr SD Kulkarni’s lab for his home paper project.
